Dallas W. Bjerke
February 3, 1932 ~ April 17, 2017

Dal Bjerke of Bloomington, MN peacefully passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017, at Fairview Hospital.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Helmer and Myrtle (Pederson) Bjerke, brother H. Lee Bjerke of Hot  Springs Village, AR; brother and sister-in-law, Reuben and Gloria Bjerke of Minnetonka, MN; sister Marlene (Ron) Rotvold of Fargo, ND; and first wife Marjorie.  

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Irene; son Steven (Rhoni Penland, fiancée) Bjerke of New Ulm, MN; daughter Kathi (Joe) Sobota of Woodbury, MN. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Dylan Sobota, Eagle Lake, MN; Daina Sobota, Maplewood, MN; Sara Sobota, Duluth, MN; Trish Bjerke, Minneapolis; and Josh Bjerke of New Ulm, MN. He is also survived by brother Wayne (Maureen) Bjerke of Argusville, ND and numerous nieces and nephews. Dal graduated from Hillsboro, ND high school and the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. He served two years in the army stationed in Korea. He began working at The Pillsbury Company in 1956 and retired in 1991 after working in Grocery Sales and Bakery Mix Marketing. Dal was a longtime member of Born Again Jocks.

I remember Dal as a friend and brother of my classmate Reuben and as a
Fraternity Brother at Sigma Chi. He was an outstanding person and very helpful to me at UND when I was a student.
